Force entrant to pay now not working as expected.

For this event we have activated the "Force entrant to pay now" option to solve issues with a small minority of entrants failing to pay for their competition.

I noticed that the first few entrants on this event had circumvented this force payment, I put that down to the structure I had for fees:
Entry $0
Race $350
Regularity $240
Supersprint $200

I have now changed that to make the base entry $200; ie
Entry $200
Race $150
Regularity $40
Supersprint $0
My expectation was that it would enforce payment of the $200, but alas, that has been circumvented as well.

Its sad that we want to do this to cover the sins of a few, however, as the option is offered on the Event Entry Portal it would be nice that it functions as advertised.
Thanks
John

The VSRS have set up an event in which they have selected to force entrants to pay in order to finalise their entry. When I go through the event entry process as a competitor, it takes me to the page where the only option is Confirm and Pay, which is correct as the EO has selected forced payments. However, if I click confirm and pay and then don’t input my payment details, it still accepts my entry into the event with the payment outstanding. As the club has limited garages, people who are entering without paying are taking those garages from those who are wanting to enter and pay.

Daniel,

The development of this feature is in progress.
Currently, when Event Organisers tick the 'Force Entrant to pay now' checkbox, the only payment methods that are available are Credit Card and Voucher, these 2 payment methods can be validated during the entry process, unlike the Direct Debit or Cheque methods which need validating later by the event organiser. However, an entrant can just navigate away, or close their browser window at the payment page to bypass the validation, which results in their entry being posted without payment. The Event Organiser then has to manually reject or accept the entry on the Entries Summary page.

The next version of this feature will identify these occourences and send alerts to the Event Organiser and Entrant giving the entrant 24 hours to complete the payment or the entry will be rejected.

Hope this answers your question

Mat.

Hi John, thank you for sharing your feedback, and I want to assure you that our development team has been actively working to resolve this issue. We understand the complexity involved in solving it.

Detecting and preventing entrants from bypassing the payment screen within the entrant workflow is feasible. However, if they navigate to another website or simply close their browser, we encounter challenges with pending entries.

To address this, our proposed solution involves sending email notifications to both the entrant and the Event Organiser. These notifications will alert them that an unpaid entry has been submitted, and they will have 24 hours to complete the payment. Failure to do so will result in the rejection of the entry. We will also send a second email notification one hour before the rejection is scheduled, followed by a final notification stating that the entry has been rejected. The entry status will then change from "Pending" to "Rejected - Not Paid".

We are currently testing this solution, and it is scheduled for imminent release. We believe this approach will address the issues faced by you and many other event organisers, making the process of event organisation much smoother.

We appreciate your valuable feedback, and if you have any further input or suggestions, please feel free to contribute. Thank you once again for your patience and understanding.
